Overview
This paper-originally delivered as an honorary judicial speech-reflects on the spirit of the judicial task and the importance of international judicial dialogue in advancing justice and strengthening trust among legal systems. The author begins with the premise that a judge's role is not limited to the strict application of legal texts but also encompasses the consideration of human values and ethical principles that lend a human dimension to judicial work. The theoretical framework explores the concept of the \"spirit of the judicial task,\" emphasizing that justice requires balancing legal rules with higher principles such as equity and compassion. The study also discusses the growing importance of international judicial dialogue in fostering harmony among different systems, particularly in addressing cross-border issues. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, drawing on the author's extensive judicial experience and providing examples of cases where exchanges between national and international courts played a vital role in developing and clarifying the law. Findings indicate that openness to international judicial practices enriches national jurisprudence and builds mutual trust across legal systems. The paper concludes that contemporary judges must remain receptive to human values and engaged with their peers worldwide to deliver deeper and fairer justice. It recommends embedding international judicial dialogue into judicial training and strengthening courts' roles in safeguarding rights at the global level.
