الشعر الجاهلي وثيقة تاريخية يمكن من خلالها سبر الفكر الجاهلي بمسبار المجاز، بوصفه آلية من آليات اشتغال الذهن، وطريقة تفكير لرؤية العالم. والشاعر الجاهلي عاش الصيد حرفة ولذة، وأسقطه على مجالات عدة، عبر مجازات تصورية أودعها كلامه وفنه؛ ليكتشف عالمه من صيده. وقد جاء البحث في مبحثين، صنف المبحث الأول المجازات، وتناول الثاني مجازات الصيد في الشعر الجاهلي (صيد القوافي- صيد الحب- صيد المنايا- صيد الدهر- صيد الحرب).
