المشترك: اللفظ الذي يدل على معان مختلفة- معنيين أو أكثر- دلالة مستوية عند أهل اللغة وهو موجود في اللغة والقران الكريم عند جمهور العلماء، ولا عموم له عند الحنفية وله عموم عند الشافعية وغيرهم إذا أمكن حمله على جميع معانيه يحمل عليها وإلا حمل على ما يمكن منها. ولمعرفته أهمية كبيرة في فهم النص القرآني، لان معرفة المشترك تساعد في الفهم الصحيح لمراد الله من كلامه، وهو أحد أسباب اختلاف المفسرين في تفسير بعض الآيات.
