يطمح هذه البحث الموسوم بـ\"الأمثال في كتاب العين للخليل بن أحمد: دراسة تأصيلية\" إلى الكشف عن النموذج النثري الوحيد الذي اجتمع عليه أكثر العلماء في صحة الاستشهاد به، وهي الأمثال، من خلال ما ورد من نماذج منها في كتاب العين؛ باعتبار أن الأمثال هي حكمة العرب، ويجتمع لها خصال لا تتوافر في كثير من الكلام، وهي انعكاس لحياة الأمة العربية في أغلب مناحي حياتها: الاجتماعية، والثقافية، والاقتصادية ... إلخ، وهي أصدق تصوير لمدى ما وصلت إليه الأمة من رقي، أو انحطاط.
