Overview
Understanding how evaluation methods affect job performance is important, especially in Saudi organizations, where both ongoing and traditional assessment methods are used, this study aimed to explore the impact of continuous and traditional appraisal methods on employee performance in Saudi organizations. This was done using a quantitative analysis approach, where data were collected from a sample of 284 employees from different sectors of business organizations by developing a customized questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). By testing four main hypotheses, the results revealed that continuous appraisal has a positive and statistically significant impact on job performance, while traditional appraisal did not show a high impact despite its presence. In addition, no statistically significant differences in job performance were detected based on gender. These findings provide useful practical implications for managers in Saudi companies who want to enhance employee productivity by changing their performance appraisal systems. It also provides additional real- world evidence on the effectiveness of these appraisal methods in Saudi business organizations.
