تناول البحث الحياة العلمية في مدينة ذمار باعتبارها إحدى المدن العلمية المشهورة في اليمن في القرن الثالث عشر الهجري (التاسع عشر الميلادي). وهذا البحث يسهم في بيان المكانة العلمية لمدينة ذمار والدور الريادي لعلمائها في نشر العلم والمعرفة وتصدرهم للتدريس والإفتاء، وتناول في الأخير الصلات العلمية بين مدينة ذمار وغيرها من المدن وخاصة مدينة صنعاء وتبادل الإجازات العلمية بين علمائها.
