Overview
كان لكل شعب من الشعوب وسائل التسلية الخاصة به، التي يقبل عليها في أوقات الفراغ، والتي كثيراً ما تتلاءم مع عادات أهله وتتواءم مع أخلاق أمته، ورغم اختلاف هذه الوسائل من حيث الشكل والمضمون وتبعاً للزمان والمكان، فأنها تتفق عادة من حيث الغرض منها ألا وهو تريض العقول والأبدان، وقد تفنن المماليك في مصر والشام في إيجاد وسائل الفكاهة التي شغلوا بها أوقات فراغهم، فقد كان بعض هذه الوسائل منها ما تدعو للهو مثل الغناء والموسيقى.
