Overview
The research deals with the status of the mosque in Islam as the House of Allah, as mentioned in many Quranic verses. Allah attributes it to Himself as an honor to it, emphasizing its sanctity, the prohibition of violating it, and the command to purify it. This esteemed status that the mosque holds in Islam, as affirmed by the Holy Quran, has become rooted in the consciousness of Muslim community. Therefore, they have been keen on building and constructing them. This is also what the Muslims who moved to live in Germany did. In the beginning, they established a small number of mosques, numbering six or seven at most, until the beginning of the 1960s. However, the number of mosques gradually increased following the migration of Muslim workers to Germany in the 1960s, reaching today approximately more than 2,500 mosques. Therefore, the construction of mosques is not merely seen as the establishment of houses of worship to pray in, as a Muslim is able to perform prayers anywhere, but rather it is understood in the context of their status in the Holy Quran and the Prophetic tradition. Numerous texts encourage the development of mosques, both physically through building and spiritually through prayer.
