Overview
تتعرض الذات في غالبية المجتمعات المعاصرة لعمليات من القمع والكبح، نتيجة عجز الفرد عن إدراك المعاني وفهم الرموز، وزيادة مستوى التعقيد في المؤسسات الاجتماعية، وغياب الألفة والمحبة بين الناس، وسيطرة الرغبات والعواطف الذاتية على حياة الفرد، وغياب دور المجتمع في الإصلاح والإرشاد الذاتي، وضعف القدرة على تنظيم الذات، وانحراف الذات عن قواعد الأخلاق العامة، والتوتر بين الذات المسيطرة والخانعة من أجل السيطرة على مصادر القوة.
