تعد Six Sigma من المفاهیم المطورة لإدارة الجودة الشاملة، إذ تهدف إلى الارتقاء بمستویات المنشآت الإنتاجیة أو الخدمیة من النواحي المالیة والإداریة والفنیة عن طریق تخفیض عنصرین أساسیین یؤثران سلباً على جـودة العملیات هما المعـیب Defect والتأخر Delay في تسـلیم المنتجات. وبذلك فإن منهـجیة Six Sigma تحاول الوصول إلى (4.3) وحدة معیبة في الملیون. ویستعرض هذا البحث الفلسفة الإداریة والإحصائیة لمنهجیة Six Sigmaواختبار مدى تطبیقها باستخدام مؤشر مستوى السیكما
