Overview
زار ابن جبير مدينة الموصل سنة ٥٨٠هـ وأقام فيها أربعة أيام ، وقدم وصفا لما شاهده فيها من المظاهر العمرانية الدينية والعلمية مثل المساجد والمدارس، وكذلك المظاهر الاقتصادية والخدمية ممثلة بالأسواق والقيساريات والخانات والحمامات ،كما أشار إلى طبائع أهل الموصل وحسن معاملتهم للغرباء ،وكذلك أبدى استغرابه وعـدم تقبله لبعض المظاهر الاجتماعية التي شاهدها في الموصل والتي لم تكن مألوفة لديـه في المغرب ، وكان وصفه مفعما بالحيوية والصدق وبعيدا عن الأغـراض الشخـصية والمادية .
