يناقش المقال تدريس الإحصاء في أقسام المكتبات والمعلومات، حيث يعتبر الإحصاء من العلوم المساعدة في تخصص المكتبات والمعلومات، فقد ساعد كثيرا على تغيير النظرة إلى التخصص من النوعية إلى الكمية. وتدريس الإحصاء يمكن الطلاب من استخدامه في العديد من المجالات بعد تخرجهم مثل: خدمات المعلومات، الإعارة في مجالات البحث العلمي في مجال المكتبات والمعلومات، وبالتالي تحسين الخدمات ومخرجات البحث في المجال.
