تهدف هذه الدراسة عن الترجمة إلي بحث \" التقريب\" و\" التغريب\" من زاوية شكلية، ويتم ذلك البحث عن وسيلتي الترجمة من خلال آراء فينوتي (1995، 1997، 1999) بالإضافة إلي الاستعانة بآراء آخرين مثل رايس (1976) ومندي (2001)، ويهدف البحث إلي تحري مدي صدق فرضية أن واحدة من الوسيلتين قيد تكون أكثر فعالية من الأخرى في ترجمة ما يسمي بالنصوص \" التعريفية \"، ويتم البحث على كتاب \" الاستشراق\" لإدوارد سعيد (1978/ 2003) باعتباره النص المصدر وكذلك على ترجمة كمال أبو ديب (1981) ومحمد عناني (2006) باعتبارهما النصوص الهدف، وهكذا يهدف التحليل التراكيبي المقارن بين الترجمتين العربيتين إلي معرفة مدي جدوي استخدام \" التقريب\" أو \" التغريب\" في ترجمة النصوص \" التعريفية\".
