Overview
Two experiments were conducted at Abunaama area in season 2000-2001 to investigate the fertilizing effect of different neem preparations on growth and yield of rainfed groundnut ( Arachis hypogaea). The treatments were: Neem leaves powder (NLP) at 50 and 100kgfed; neem seed cake powder(NSCP) at 25 and 50kgfed, neem seed Kernel powder (NSKP) at 25 and 50 kgfed and a control treatment. This was done in a groundnut field as soil incorporation before planting, using a Randomized Complete Block design (RCBD) with four replicates. Shoot dry weight (SDW) in g. was determined three times at monthly intervals, starting at 30 days after germination. Yield (pod) was determined at maturity. Results revealed that NSCP at 50Kgfed and NLP at 100Kgfed slightly increased shoot dry weight, but increased pod dramatically at the two sites. The increase ranged from 87% (NSKP 25 kg/fed.) to 144% (NLP 100kg/fed.) at the college farm and from 3% (NSKP 25kg /fed.) to 188% (NSCP 50kg /fed.) at Kenaf farm
