يهدف هذا البحث إلى التعريف بعصور ما قبل التاريخ وفجر التاريخ في بلاد المغرب القديم، وبداية الدفن، ابتداء من العصر الحجري القديم الأعلى، في حدود 35 ألف و10 آلاف سنة قبل الميلاد، والتعريف بأنواع المدافن التي انتشرت آنداك، مثل: المآوى، والنصب الحجرية، والقبور القلاعية، والمطامر، والحوانيت، والقبور الركامية، والجثوات؛ مع وصفها، والتطرق إلى تعدد أشكالها وفتراتها الزمنية، وهيئات الدفن، وأنواع الأثاث الجنائزي المرافق للميت؛ ما يدل على اهتمامهم بمعتقد ما بعد الموت، مثل باقي شعوب الحضارات القديمة.
