انصب المقال على تحديد منهج البحث في المصنف الأصولي المعاصر ((من النص إلى الواقع)) لصاحبه حسن حنفي، المنهج الذي ارتبط بالمخطط العام الذي تبناه مشروع التراث والتجديد، القائم على الجمع والتوحيد بين التراث وعلوم العصر، بين الأنا والآخر والواقع، استند البحث ميتودولوجيا إلى مناهج تراثية وأخرى معاصرة، كانت الطريقة الظاهراتية هي الغالبة، وكانت الأولوية فيه للعقل على النقل وللواقع على النص وللعمل على النظر، مما جعله ومنهجه يتعرض لعدة انتقادات.
