يهدف البحث إلى تسليط الضوء على الانتهاكات التي كان يمارسها الرئيس معمر القذافي في ليبيا (1969-2011) لمبادئ حقوق الإنسان في ليبيا، فعلى الرغم من إعلان للقذافي أن الشعب هو مصدر جميع السلطات، إلا انه في حقيقة الأمر ارتكب مخالفات واضحة لحقوق الإنسان، وهو الأمر الذي أدى إلى حدوث الثورة الشعبية التي انتهت بقتله في العشرين من تشرين الأول من عام 2011 بمساعدة خارجية كان أبرز من مثلها حلف شمال الأطلسي-ليتسلم الحكم المجلس الوطني الانتقالي.
