يهدف هذا المقال إلى سرد مختلف الدراسات، التي أنجزت في السنوات السابقة، على الآثار الغارقة جزئيا أو كليا في منطقة شرشال \"القيصرية\"، عاصمة المقاطعة الرومانية ومن أهم المدن الساحلية في الفترة الإسلامية. ستسمح لنا هذه الدراسة بتحديد الثراء الأثري الغارق للمنطقة من جهة وتبيان إمكانية توسيع الأبحاث في هذا الميدان من جهة أخرى.
