هدفت هذه المقالة إلى توضيح مفهوم عنى الحياة كما تناوله على النفس الفرد متمثلاً بعالم النفس التحليلي \"ألفرد آدلر\" وعلم النفس الوجود متمثلاً بالعالم الوجودي \"فيكتور فرانكل\"، وتطرقت إلى تحديد هذا المفهوم وعلاقته بالعلاج النفسي من خلال نظريات وآراء هذين العالمين، وإعطاء أمثلة من خلال آرائهم ونظرياتهم، كما تم إظهار العلاقة بين هاتين المدرستين في تفسيرهما لهذا المفهوم من خلال التعقيب الذي شرحت فيه الباحثة العلاقة بين هاتين النظريتين في طرحهما لمعنى الحياة ودوره في العلاج النفسي.
