يتناول هذا البحث الأحاديث التي أعلت بسبب الاختصار، وبيان نقاد الحديث لعلتها، ومنشأ الاختصار، وبيان أثرها في اختلاف الفقهاء في الكثير من المسائل التي ستبينها الدراسة.nوتهدف الدراسة إلى بيان اهتمام المحدثين وعلماء العلل على وجه الخصوص في نقد متن الحديث، ودقتهم في تحديد الراوي المختصر، وبيانهم للرواية المطولة، وأن كشفهم عن سبب العلة في الأحاديث المختصرة قد يقرب الكثير من الأقوال الفقهية إذ إنه لا يصح الاستدلال بالرواية المختصرة لأنها توهم غير المراد منها.
