ساهم المؤرخ ابن خلدون عبد الرحمن في دفع التراث إلى الواجهة، وجعله مجالا للاشتغال العلمي، وفق مقاييس الكتابة التاريخية الواردة في \"المقدمة\"، ومن ثمة يبرز المجال العلائقي بين التراث كمعطى من الزمن الماضي، والكتابة التاريخية التي تعتبر إعادة لبنائه ببصيرة الحاضر، قصد تحقيق المغزى من دراسة التاريخ.
