إن بداية المسرح الإيراني مرتبطة بالتاريخ، ولم يقتصر الأمر على البداية فقط، بل ظل الاعتماد على التاريخ مستمراً. وتعتبر مسرحة \"كاوه آهنكر\" من المسرحيات التاريخية التي تعود أحداثها إلى تاريخ إيران الأسطوري. ويقسم البحث إلى ستة محاور على النحو الآتي: نبذة عن لاهوتي. التعريف بالضحاك وكاوه. \"قصة الضحاك وكاوه\" في التاريخ والشاهنامه. أحداث مسرحة \"كاوه آهنكر\" لأبي القاسم لاهوتي. عوامل الاتفاق بين مسرحية \"كاوه آهنكر\" والروايات التاريخية. العناصر الجديدة التي أضفاها لاهوتي على مسرحة \"كاوه آهنكر\".
