تبحث هذه الدراسة في ظاهرة السواد في شعر المتنبي، وأسبابها، ودلالاتها اللغوية، وقد اتبعت الباحثة المنهج السيميائي في تحليل الخطاب الشعري، وتوصلت الدراسة لنتائج أهمها: أن معاني السواد تختلف عند المتنبي من حقبة لأخرى. أن المتنبي جعل من اللون الأسود رمزًا يبطن خلفه معانٍ مختلفة.
