The Role of Scholarship in Social Change in Saudi Arabia

Overview

The current study aims to point out the relationship between overseas scholarship as a national educational program and social change in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study was limited to clarifying the views of the United States Scholarship as the most scholarship country that receives students from various disciplines. The study adopted the descriptive approach with a random sample of 385. The study concluded in its theoretical part the positive effect of scholarship on social change as it provides models for social systems that students can compare with the systems of his country and adopt the best systems or reconcile them. The fact that students continue to communicate with their families facilitate social acceptance of positive social change and reduce change resistance. The quantitative results of the study are summarized in the desire of most students who are sent to America to change the system of educational and service sectors and social care and develop them, as well as the addition of supporting systems. The study also showed the poor effect of scholarship on the social value system of the student compared to his adoption of material culture in the United States of America.
