Overview
انطلقت فكرة تطبيق تقنية تحويل الفحم البترولي إلى سوائل في عمليات تكرير النفط بتأثير عاملين أساسيين، أولهما ارتفاع معدل تكرير النفوط الخام الثقيلة والحامضية، نتيجة تراجع جودة النفط الخام في الأسواق العالمية، وثانيهما تنامي صرامة متطلبات التشريعات التي تمنع طرح انبعاثات أكاسيد الكبريت الناتجة عن استخدام الوقود الثقيل في محطات توليد الطاقة الكهربائية.
