أبطال روايات فرانسواز كلواريك يقومون بأسفار متعددة الأبعاد: فأولاً وفي أعقاب قطيعة ما مع محيطهم يتوجهون نحو الشرق، نحو الأصل ثم يحطون رحالهم جميعاً في سورية. وفي موازاة ذلك فهم يغوصون في أعماق الأنا والأماكن المخفية من لا وعيهم، وأخيراً يزورون المتاحف السورية والمواقع الأثرية كي ينهلوا من ينابيع الثقافة القائمة على التسامح واحترام الآخر. وتحت تأثير الجمال والفن يبرؤون من مرضهم ويستعيدون وحدتهم الأولى وشهية الحياة.
