ولا يكاد علم من علوم العربية إلا ويعتمد على المفهوم الدلالي فالعلاقة بين اللفظ والمعنى، أي: ارتباط الدال بالمدلول شغلت علماء اللغة قديماً وحديثاً. وقد ألفت كتب كثيرة في هذا المجال، منها كتاب الراغب الأصفهاني (ت: 425ه) المعنون بـ: \"مفردات ألفاظ القرآن\"، وهو قائم على دراسة المعاني والعلاقة بينها وبين الألفاظ من الجوانب الدلالية المتعددة المعجمية والصرفية والنحوية والسياقية والمجازية.
