تهدف هذه الدراسة للتعرف على حركة النشر بالمركز الوطني للمحفوظات والدراسات التاريخية من عام1978 م -2010 م متمثلة في الكتب أحد أوعية المعلومات التي تعتبر أكثر المنشورات في مجال النشر العلمي والوقوف على التوزيعات المختلفة مثل التوزيع الموضوعي، والتوزيع الزمني، والتوزيع اللغوي وغيرها من المؤشرات التي شملتها الدراسة، إضافة إلى معرفة خط سير النتاج الفكري من خلال الفترات الزمنية للدراسة مستخدما المنهج الوصفي.
