يهدف البحث إلى معرفة كيفية تناول علماء اللغة القدماء والمحدثين لظاهرة تحليل الأخطاء، وبين أن هناك أوجه تشابه واختلاف في الطرق التي تناول بها العلماء تحليل الأخطاء قديما وحديثا، وأوضحت الدراسة أن تحليل الأخطاء؛ ظاهرة وجدت عند علماء اللغة قديما أمثال) :الكسائي، الجاحظ، ابن جني، ابن قتيبة(، وقد كانوا من السباقين إلى هذه الظاهرة، كما توصلت الدراسة إلى ضرورة تحليل الأخطاء وتفسيرها وشرحها وتوضيح الصواب، فظاهرة تحليل الأخطاء هي الجانب العملي والتطبيقي لأخطاء متعلمي اللغة التي يجب تصحيحها وتوضيح الصواب فيها.
