Overview
Los símbolos de lo femenino a lo largo de la narración distópica de El cuento de la Criada (Atwood,1985) serán el objeto de análisis de este artículo. Se defenderá la tesis según la cual la simbología de lo femenino es un hilo conductor que permite el análisis de las características fundamentales de las sociedades distópicas y la posibilidad de la distopía crítica. La categoría de análisis utilizada será el símbolo definido bajo la directriz de la hermenéutica simbólica de Ricoeur la cual propone la comprensión de un texto sobre la base de lo que quiere decir (Ricoeur 9). Así pues, los símbolos de lo femenino dinamizan la posibilidad de la resistencia al interior de los regímenes distópicos y sin resistencia no hay distopía. Por ende, es posible interpretar, mediante los símbolos de lo femenino como hilos conductores, las características fundamentales de las distopías y en particular construir la posibilidad de una distopía crítica feminista.
