The state of the art of value creation in MA: a bibliometric study

Overview
The aim of this research was to find out about the state of the art of academic production dealing with mergers and acquisitions related to value creation. Empirically, it sought to map and analyze existing scientific productions on M&A operations and their consequences for the firm, such as value creation, cost reduction and profitability. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, a survey and analysis of studies indexed in the Web of Sciense[R] database published between 1972 and 2021 was carried out. Among the journals surveyed, there was a predominance of corporate finance, business, management and economics. The most influential countries in the field are the United States with 57 published works, followed by the United Kingdom with 29, China with 26, Germany with 11, South Korea with 10 and Spain with 10. Brazil ranks 14th with 3 publications. In summary, it can be seen that mergers and acquisitions are increasingly being used as a strategy for entering new markets, gaining synergies, portfolio facilitation, diversification, access to technological assets and reducing taxes. A presente pesquisa teve por objetivo como objetivo conhecer o estado da arte das producoes academicas que tratam das fusoes e aquisicoes relacionadas a criacao de valor. Empiricamente buscou-se mapear e analisar as producoes cientificas existentes sobre as operacoes de Fusoes e Aquisicoes e suas consequencias para a firma, como a criacao de valor, a reducao de custos e a lucratividade. Para atingir os objetivos propostos foi realizado um levantamento e analise dos estudos indexados na base de dados Web of Sciense[R] publicados no periodo de 1972 a 2021. Dentre os periodicos pesquisados, ha predominancia das areas de financas empresariais, negocios, gestao e economia. Os paises mais influentes no campo sao os Estados Unidos com 57 obras publicadas, seguido pelo Reino Unido com 29, China com 26, Alemanha com 11, Coreia do Sul com 10 e Espanha com 10. O Brasil ocupa a 14a posicao com 3 publicacoes. Em sintese, percebe-se que as fusoes e aquisicoes estao sendo usadas cada vez mais como uma estrategia de entrada em novos mercados, ganho de sinergia, facilitacao no portfolio, diversificacao, acesso a ativos tecnologicos e reducao de tributacao.
