تستدعي الأديبة العراقية في هذه الشهادة أشخاصاً وأماكن لتقدم صورة عن عائلة مركبة الخلفية: من أب كردي وأم عربية، وعن محطات من سيرتها اليسارية. تتذكرأباها الذي أخذها وهي طفلة إلى قريته زينو في إقليم كردستان العراقي وأمها التي ثابرت على زيارتها يومياً وهي في المعتقل في بغداد. تشير إلى إعجابها بالأرملة الكردية أغا جان وديوانها المفتوح لإدارة أمور العشيرة، وتستعيد بشجن قرى كردية شهدت نضالاً ومعاناة: ناوجليكان، قاعدة الحزب الشيوعي، وحلبجة، حيث الإبادة الجماعية. وفي خاتمة الذكريات، تستدعي كركوك، المدينة العراقية المشهورة بخليطها الإثني من أكراد وعرب وأرمن وأشوريين، وتستحضرأبياتاً من قصائد الشاعر سركون بولص عنها . In this testimony, the author invokes memories of people and places to present a family of mixed background — Kurdish and Arab — and the trajectory of a leftist. The writer recalls her Kurdish father taking her as a child to his village and her Arab mother persisting in visiting her prison daily. She underlines her admiration for a Kurdish widow who ran the family business with authority and painfully recalls villages of Kurdistan associated with struggles and victimization. In the finale of her recollections, she invokes Kirkuk, the multi-ethnic city depicted lyrically by the Assyrian poet Sargon Boulus.
