LA SORORANZA NELL’AMICA GENIALE DI ELENA FERRANTE

In questo articolo si analizza in quale modo Elena Ferrante affronta il tema della sororanza nella tetralogia dell’Amica geniale. I parametri attraverso cui viene indagato il rapporto di amicizia tra le protagoniste Lila e Lenù sono i seguenti : i concetti di commonality e complementarity (E. Abel e J. K. Gardiner), da un lato, e quelli di growing up e growing down (A. Pratt), dall’altro. Il primo binomio – forte identificazione e complementarità – tocca tre aspetti dei due personaggi femminili : l’esteriorità, il carattere e le esperienze di vita. Dall’analisi emerge come la componente della complementarity prevalga nella relazione che lega le protagoniste. Nel secondo paragrafo si affrontano i concetti di ‘parabola ascendente’ e ‘parabola discendente’, ripercorrendo i nodi principali che hanno segnato la vita di Lila e Lenù e il modo in cui le loro esistenze sono percepite dall’ambiente di provenienza, da quello di approdo e da loro stesse. This article analyses how Elena Ferrante approaches the theme of female friendship in her Neapolitan Novels. The friendship between Lila and Lenù is studied through the parameter of commonality and complementarity on the one hand (E. Abel and J. K. Gardiner), and growing up and growing down on the other (A. Pratt). The first binomial – strong identification and complementarity – touches upon three aspects of the feminine characters : physical appearence, personality and life experience. The analysis finds that complementarity is the main component underlying this female friendship. The second paragraph examines the concepts of ‘ascending trend’ and ‘descending trend’, tracing some crucial episodes in Lila and Lenù’s relation and how their own lives are perceived by their background, their new milieu and the two women themselves.
