هذا البحث هو دراسة ميدانية لدير أثري اسمه دير الزعفران، كان مكان إقامة للرهبان المسحيين في حقبة من الزمن. أسس الدير الراهب أفنيماران الكبير أو ابني مارن الذي ولد نهاية القرن السادس الميلادي. عاش أفنيماران في دير عابي ثم غادره و اختار سفح جبل بيخير الغربي، وهناك بنى هذا الدير. يقع دير الزعفران بالقرب من مضيق مدينة زاخو ويطل على سهل واسع فسيح اسمه السهل السليفاني، في محافظة دهوك من إقليم كوردستان العراق. وقد قدمنا في هذا البحث معلومات قيمة وجديدة تنشر لأول مرة، وعززناها بالمخططات والصور عن موقع الدير وما يحتويه من آثار باقية إلى اليوم. This research deals with fieldwork at the archaeological site of the monastery called Dayr Zaʿfarān, that was inhabited by Christian monks. The monastery was founded by the monk Afnī Mārān or Abnī Marān, born at the end of the 6th century. He left the monastery of Bet ʿAbe to settle at the foot of Mount Bekher West. The monastery is near the city of Zakho and overlooks the wide Slevane Plain, in the Dahok Governorate of the Kurdistan region of Iraq. This article presents new information about the site and synthesises previous works. Cet article est le fruit d’une étude de terrain du site archéologique de Dayr Zaʿfarān, occupé par des moines chrétiens. Le monastère a été fondé par le moine Afnī Mārān ou Abnī Marān, né à la fin du vie siècle. Il a quitté le monastère de Bet ʿAbe pour s’installer au pied du Mont Bekher. Le monastère est proche de la ville de Zakho et domine la large plaine de Slevane dans le gouvernorat de Dahok, dans le Kurdistan irakien. Cet article présente de nouvelles informations sur le site et synthétise les travaux précédents.
