La jeune fille Violaine constitue un tour de force dans la représentation qu’elle propose de la recherche d’un amour d’une nouvelle sorte, recherche qui oppose deux logiques : celle du monde paysan et de son sens de la propriété, du mariage et du travail, et celle de Pierre de Craon et de Violaine dont le baiser donnera élan à sa créativité du nouvel amour et à la construction de l’Église. Cette pièce est aussi une étonnante préfiguration inversée d’événements à venir dans la vie de Claudel, mis en scène dans Partage de midi.
La jeune fille Violaine is a tour de force as this play represents the search for a new sort of love, a search opposing two different logics : on one hand, that of the peasant world with its sense of property, mariage and work; on the other hand, that of Pierre de Craon and Violaine, whose kiss gives impetus to his creativity of the new love and to the construction of the Church. This play also presents an amazing inverse prefiguration of what will hapen in Claudel’s life, staged in Partage de midi.
