Overview
La familia Marcgraviaceae está ubicada en el orden Ericales y posee ocho géneros y cerca de 130−140 especies. Esta familia está representada en Brasil por seis géneros y 39 especies. Se realizó el tratamiento taxonómico de la familia para el estado de Paraíba, noreste brasileño. Se realizaron búsquedas en bases de datos, colecciones de herbarios, tanto físicas como digitales, así como exploraciones de campo. En el área de estudio se encontraron tres géneros y tres especies (Marcgravia coriacea, Schwartzia brasiliensisySouroubea guianensis).Marcgravia coriaceaySouroubea guianensisse registran por primera vez para la flora del estado de Paraíba. Se presentan las descripciones taxonómicas, ilustraciones, una clave para el reconocimiento de las especies, datos de distribución geográfica y hábitats, así como información de la fenología reproductiva de las especies.
Marcgraviaceae belongs to the order Ericales, has eight genera and about 130−140 species. In Brazil, it is currently represented by six genera and 39 species. This work aimed to carry out the taxonomic survey of the family in the State of Paraíba, Brazilian northeastern. Digitized databases, physical and virtual herbaria were consulted and field visits were made. In the study area three species in three genera were found:Marcgravia coriacea, Schwartzia brasiliensis, andSouroubea guianensis.Marcgravia coriaceaandS. guianensisare here recorded for the first time for the flora of the State. Taxonomic descriptions, illustrations, a key to species, geographic distribution data, habitats, and reproductive phenology for the species are presented.
