Overview
Wilsonian internationalism argued that morality and ethics had to be the basis for a democratic society's foreign policy. The Fourteen Points, as the program came to be called, consist in certain basic principles, such as the right of the peoples to self-determination, open covenants, freedom of the seas and free international commerce. Wilson supported a new international order based on a world-wide organization of the states, the League of Nations, able to enforce the peace.
