Pusă pentru prima dată în scenă în anul 1996, cu Eileen Walsh şi Cillian Murphy în rolurile principale, piesa de teatru hit a lui Enda Walsh, Disco Pigs, urmăreşte parcursul unei perechi de adolescenţi ce se alintă sarcastic Pig (Porcul) şi Runt (Vagaboanta). Problema definirii identităţii este recurentă în tradiţia literară irlandeză, dar Walsh reuşeşte să o valorifice în mod extraordinar prin intermediul personajelor sale: anxietăţile specifice vârstei lor, amplificate de zeci de ori sub lupa unui tragism isterizat, formează cadrul din care va reverbera negreşit ecoul subiectivităţii colective în plină criză. Consumatori avizi de contracultură (le place Baywatch şi punk-rock-ul englezesc), amândoi dau impresia că trăiesc deconectaţi de naţionalismul extremist care le acaparează oraşul.
