Overview
The present study was conducted to examine the impact of multiculturalism on intercultural social attraction. It was hypothesized that multiculturalism and intercultural communication competence would be positively related to a higher level of intercultural social attraction. A self-report survey included measures of multiculturalism, intercultural communication competence, and intercultural social attraction. A total of 177 respondents participated in the study. Multiple regression analysis revealed that multiculturalism and intercultural communication competence are positively related to intercultural social attraction. The results suggested that attitudinal impacts of multiculturalism were greater than that of the behavioral impacts of intercultural communication competence. Limitations of this study, as well as future directions concerning these findings are suggested.
