Overview
Organizations in the 21st century are impacted by ongoing change because of internal and external environmental events. A response in organizations to internal and external environmental events includes change management strategies. A challenge in the implementation of these organizational change management strategies involves employee response which affects employee sustainment of change. Evidence in existing studies suggested alignment of organizational change with employee need for meaning and calling in the work environment. This dissertation extended existing studies with an examination of the relationship between the role of meaning and calling on employee sustainment of organizational change. The objective of the research questions involved examinations of the relationship between meaning and calling on employee sustainment of organizational change. A correlational design was used to examine the relationship between meaning and calling on employee sustainment of organizational change. The statistical method was multiple regression. This study included the use of surveys which measured employee perception of meaning, employee perception of work as calling, and employee sustainment (including (readiness or resistance) to organizational change. The target population consisted of employees in organizations located in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV). Implications for practitioners and leaders included employee participation and support in the sustainment of change management strategies.
