Overview
According to the United States Marriage Index, thirty-five-year-old Horace С. U.S. Patent no. 408,248 described this Marsh miter machine as a tool that allowed a person to cut a picture frame molding at 45 degrees, then cut another side of the frame at 45 degrees, clamp the two pieces together, flip the machine over to a perpendicular position, and nail the corners (Figure 1). Locatedin the Rockford Industrial Center on 220 Race Power Street, the H. C. Marsh Tool Company used the Rock River as its power source and was in operation through 1900.
