Lorna specialises in the diagnosis, assessment and management of complex communication and swallowing disorders in neurological conditions and acquired brain injury. For over a decade she held a Clinical Specialist NHS role at The National Hospital forNeurology & Neurosurgery in London and is now the founder and lead of a private practice, Illuminate Speech Therapy. Lorna has expertise in Functional speech and swallowing disorders and is a contributing author to the consensus recommendations for Speech and Language Therapists in this clinical area.Why do we need Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) in FND services? This brief overview summarizes the prevalence of communication and dysphagia symptoms in FND cohorts, highlights the value of SLTs in the diagnostic process as well as in rehabilitation services.
