Overview
Sarah Mower charts the 25-year history of the London Fashion Week. London's collective genius has come in waves. First, there was Westwood, Hamnett and Galliano and others in the 1980s. In the 1990s, it was McQueen and Chalyan in Cool Britannia. Now, in the 2000s, it is a wave of talent led by Christopher Kane and Marios Schwab. In the beginning, there was the combustion of street style, documented by \"The Face\" and \"I-D\". In the aftermath of the Black Monday stock market crash of 1987, things went quiet for fashion for some considerable time.
