Overview
Nikki Hughes, a 23-year-old, killed herself last week by self-starvation. Her death was the end of an eight-year battle with anorexia nervosa. The only way a life-saving intravenous drip could have been administered without her consent was to have declared her insane under the Mental Health Act. The doctors were forced to respect her wish to die.
