Overview
This article hopes to repeat the study that Barbara Heyns completed in the 1970s that stated reading as the activity most strongly attributed to summer learning with the help of the Dominican University. Public librarians have constructed programs for summer reading to harness and foster children's love for reading and to avoid any lack of interest in the children's reading skills over the summer. This has practice has been going on for many years. It was discovered that students had low scores in reading even in schools performing poorly. This prompts a debate if programs by the public library to promote summer reading remain effective for students to learn during that period. Adapted from the source document.
