[Rob Irwin] said he was \"shocked\" to hear from other municipalities of what they see as a decline in the quality of ambulance service since the provincial takeover of a couple of years ago. In particular the 'ALS', or Advanced Life Support component has diminished, to leave just Basic Life Support as the standard level of service in many cases. That contradicts with what was promised at the time of the transition (to provincial from local control), Irwin said, which was that a decline in the level of service \"wouldn' happen.\" Added councillor Mark Missal: \"We heard some communities' ambulances were being dispatched 3 1/2 hours away, leaving them without (any coverage).\" [Councillor Missal] remarked on the difference a year makes in people's reaction to the Slave Lake disaster of 2011. At last year's AUMA conference, all everybody wanted to talk about was Slave Lake, he said. This time?
