THUNDER ON THE RIDGE: A day full of entertainment for the whole family, including a watermelon eating contest, beer garden and children's games. Country music artist Joe Nichols takes the stage at 8 p.m. Other musical/entertainment acts include Shalom Christian Center (12:30 p.m.), Prime 1 Show Band (1:30 p.m.), Bonnie Salary & Luis Medina (2:30 p.m.), Boggy Creek (3:30 p.m.), Steel Horse (4:30 p.m.), Jill's Cash Box (6:30 p.m.). One dollar from each VIP seat ticket sold will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. Starts at noon July 4. 9:30 p.m. fireworks. Free. $15 VIP seating available for concert. Lake Eva Park, 555 Ledwith Ave. 421-3700 \"We're known for having the largest fireworks display in Polk County and we really do,\" said Barbara Peck, event coordinator for the city of Haines City. \"Our fireworks are better than Disney or any of the (theme) parks. You probably hear that from everyone, but I can promise you they come from Sebring, they come from Kissimmee, they come from Orlando, they come from Winter Haven, Lakeland.
