Overview
An Airdrie man who slashed his sister across the face in a New Year's Day attack - leaving her needing 72 stitches and scarred for life - has been sentenced to five years in prison. Thomas Proctor was told as he was jailed by Sheriff Robert Dickson: \"In my 27 years as a sheriff, I have never seen a young female scarred as badly as the injury you inflicted on your sister.\" Passing sentence this week, Sheriff Dickson said: \"Your sister had to change her hours of work to later at night because of her embarrassment to be seen in public. \"This has completely changed her life. When released, Proctor will be on licence for three years, an extended sentence imposed by the sheriff to \"protect the public\" from him.
