Overview
Written Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2016 With photo Sug head online : Cheyenne businessman buys historic Tivoli Building Sug head print: Cheyenne businessman saves the past with purchase of Tivoli Building At a glance Sam Galeotos, a Cheyenne businessman, is the new owner of the historic Tivoli Building in downtown Cheyenne. Galeotos bought the building after it went up for sale in the summer. The listing price was $700,000, but Galeotos wouldn't say how much he paid. Its 2016 market value is $579,575, according to the Laramie County Assessor's Office. The Tivoli Building is made of pressed brick, red stone, copper, iron, Oregon pine and ceramic tiles on the roof. Its Victorian-styled architecture with Queen Anne-era accents provides an eclectic style, from dormer windows to an octagonal ornamental turret. The current structure wasn't the first Tivoli Building at the site, however, historian James Fuller said. He is chairman of the Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board. A wooden structure also called the Tivoli Building was built possibly as early as 1874, he said.
