Overview
He said his family and [Alyce Chapman]'s would get together regularly. One of her children, known as \"Little Grayton\" because he was named after his father, is the spitting image of his mother, [Craig Gauthier] said. Chapman also had a 12-year-old daughter. Chapman, of 389 Newhall St., was struck at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on Newhall near Goodrich Street, police said. Witnesses told police that a motorist sped through a stop sign and then fled the scene. Chapman was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Chapman was a big part of the family at the gun maker, where one of her many jobs was finishing rifle barrels for the famous Winchester rifles, Gauthier said. She would help plan the annual potluck dinners for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, when the company would give employees a break to celebrate together.
